Proposed deletion

Entry was proposed for deletion at 07:05, 12 June 2009, with the cite being "Wikipedia is not a sports almanac". This entry is not almanactic in nature: it changes with time and is not updated annual (e.g. this is not called the "Costa Rica records for 1980"). Also, almanac-nature does not appear as a reason for non-inclusion on Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not.

This entry is notable because:

  • it is the fastest time ever by a Costa Rican
  • the original is available in Spanish, and this may be one of the few English versions of the list
  • it contains information on historically important individuals (Silvia Poll is Costa Rica's first Olympic medalist; Claudia Poll is the country's first gold medalist), as well as provides clues/indicators as to who may be up-and-coming swimmers for the country (future notables);
  • inclusion of the article provides perspective, when compared to other National Records, on the position/standing of the swimming community within the country compared to the overall, global, swimming community.

Silvia Poll

Costa Rican Swimming Federation updated its record list on May 1, 2011. Does anyone know more about the reason, why Silvia Poll's times from the 80s (f.e. 55.52 at the PanAm Games '87) are not recognised by federation? Thank you.Montell 74 (talk) 08:20, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

[[José Montoya]]

Please remove links to José Montoya. It links to a different José Montoya, a poet and activist, who is not a Costa Rican swimmer. Liz Read! Talk! 14:01, 1 October 2013 (UTC)
