Capitalizing "department"

{{ping|Maxwellwarner}} I don't know where you got the guidance about "When referring to a specific department, the "D" should be capitalized", but you didn't get it from Wikipedia's MoS. Its MoS says (in MOS:INSTITUTIONS)

  • Generic words for institutions, organizations, companies, etc., and rough descriptions of them (university, college, hospital, church, high school) do not take capitals:

::

style="background:transparent"
Incorrect(generic):{{!xt|The University offers programs in arts and sciences.}}
Correct(generic):{{xt|The university offers programs in arts and sciences.}}
Correct(title):{{xt|The University of Delhi offers programs in arts and sciences.}}

Even when "The university offers programs in arts and sciences." appears in an article about a specific university and refers to that specific university, we don't use a capital "U". Please restore the changes that I made. You might also want to fix "The bottom half served as the Fire Department ..." – no different than "the high school". :I see that you don't visit Wikipedia very often, so I will make the changes. Chris the speller yack 20:50, 12 September 2018 (UTC)
