The Antisemitism section contains inaccurate and improperly cited information

The Pollock sources are self-referential as "evidence" for their claims. Further, I can find no printed articles or video interview in which Malcolm X referred to Jews as "bloodsucker[s]". He did however refer to capitalism as bloodsucking. Here is the interview the month prior to his death that I believe Pollock is referencing in her article (though it is hard to say since - as noted - her evidence is to point to a different publishing of her own): https://www.marxists.org/history/etol/newspape/youngsocialist/1964-1965/v08n03-w63-[2nd-w63]-mar-apr-1965-young-socialist-ysa.pdf

Here is Pollock's article: https://www.inss.org.il/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/special-publication-010622.pdf. The "evidentiary" book of Pollock's is behind a subscription paywall but here is a fairly thorough critique of her book: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Jennifer-Creese-3/publication/345983120_Review_of_'Antisemitism_on_the_Campus_Past_and_Present'_ed_E_Pollock_Boston_Academic_Studies_Press_20102018_xxiv448_ISBN_9781618113245/links/5fb3f5e1a6fdcc9ae05bc92a/Review-of-Antisemitism-on-the-Campus-Past-and-Present-ed-E-Pollock-Boston-Academic-Studies-Press-2010-2018-xxiv-448-ISBN-9781618113245.pdf 68.252.239.133 (talk) 23:21, 6 March 2025 (UTC)

:I'm going to ping @Antiok 1pie, who added the section, and @KiharaNoukan who added the specific passage as a courtesy. If the OP's statement is the case and Pollock is the only source we have for this quote, I would agree that it would be clearly responsible to omit it in favor of another better attested example, given the above concerns about Pollock's scholarship expressed by Jennifer Creese, an ethnographer previously active in Jewish studies. Remsense ‥  01:57, 7 March 2025 (UTC)

::Digging into the Norwood ref of Pollack, it's quoting Malcolm X's statements from an interview with C Eric Lincoln: "In America, the Jews sap the very life-blood of the so-called Negroes to maintain the state of Israel". I'll replace it with the direct sourcing from Pollack and Lincoln. KiharaNoukan (talk) 07:08, 8 March 2025 (UTC)

:::Thank you. Remsense ‥  22:48, 8 March 2025 (UTC)

:::The Pollock sources, at least "Racializing Antisemitism: Black Militants, Jews, and Israel, 1950–Present" , are inaccurate to say the least. The author consistently frames anti-Zionism, even when it consists purely of criticism related to the israeli state, neo-colonialism, displacement of arabs etc, amongst black nationalists as equivalent in severity, hatefulness, and influence, as the anti-semitism from figures like farrakhan etc that was as brazen as promoting and endorsing the contents of the protocols of zion. In addition, citing inclusions in the autobiography and/or specific language may not be sufficient, given the alleged liberties that Haley took with the MLK quote, as well as the epilogue. Regardless, the Pollack sources are nowhere near the standard of document required to support a claim like "[Malcolm X] helped change the Black community's image of The Holocaust... ". This would not only require sourcing regarding the content of Malcolm X's personal beliefs and public rhetoric, but also evidence that shows he was a substantive factor in reshaping the black community's perception of the holocaust. I think that would be hard to prove / support in its entirety, and the claims based on the pollock sources seem embellished even on top of the questionable quality of the source.

:::In addition, the "Portable Malcolm X Reader" cited for the claim "Alex Haley, the autobiography's co-author, had to rewrite some of the book to eliminate a number of negative statements about Jews in the manuscript", does not support this claim in its entirety. It states that Haley "was particularly worried about what he viewed as Malcolm X’s anti-Semitism. He therefore rewrote material to eliminate a number of negative statements about Jews in the book manuscript, with the explicit covert goal of “getting them past Malcolm X”, but the text also casts doubt on the veracity of the account, as well as pointing to claims of a significant amount of other material being removed from the text that were objectionable to Haley or the publishing house. The author themselves states that they have not read the full original manuscript, merely fragments from it which they were not involved in selecting.Transgenderoriole (talk) 19:34, 13 March 2025 (UTC)

::::How do those ideas relate and justify removing the entire section from the article? How does the author's framing nullify Malcom X's belief and spread of ideas such as the Elders of Zion, and how the publisher viewed parts of the book as being antisemitic? GGOTCC 00:19, 19 May 2025 (UTC)

Attallah (b. 1958; Arabic for "gift of God"; perhaps named after Attila the Hun);[1][D][E]

Remove the "perhaps named after Attila the Hun" as in footnotes d and e state clearly that she was not named after attila the hun. EFOSERVETY (talk) 01:13, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

The Journal of Pan African Studies, and the close friends and family of Malcolm X, have debunked biographers Bruce Perry & Manning Marable‘s claims that Malcolm X had sex with other men, for pay or otherwise. In his autobiography, Malcolm X states that his friend, “Rudy,” (an alias he used in the autobiography to protect the identity of his friend Francis “Sonny” Brown) was the one who would exchange sex for money. Mentioning Bruce Perry’s claims at all in this entry gives them unnecessary weight and undercuts an otherwise very well-sourced piece. The sentence referring to Bruce Perry’s claims should simply be removed. 184.152.98.41 (talk) 19:49, 15 April 2025 (UTC)

Lead; African/Muslim minister?

Um, cool, but how is this relevant? Genuinely asking. Articles like this don't usually mention a person's religion, race, or sexuality, except perhaps if it's relevant to their identity, such as being transgender. Otherwise, such details are typically left out. Right? And, yes, he's of African descent, but he was born in America, so he's American. Sorry if this question to me sound dumb, but I'm generally asking. Lililolol (talk) 06:32, 19 May 2025 (UTC)

:And regarding the statement, 'Malcolm X was subjected to surveillance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI),' why not include the reason? For example, he opposed the Korean War, that’s where it began, right? Lililolol (talk) 07:15, 19 May 2025 (UTC)

::Or maybe just include something about his "communist associations" Lililolol (talk) 07:34, 19 May 2025 (UTC)

:He is notable for that stuff 𐩣𐩫𐩧𐩨 Abo Yemen (𓃵) 07:53, 19 May 2025 (UTC)

:Malcolm X was definitely known as an activist for black people in America, also commonly known as African Americans. This is perhaps one of the only pages where ethnicity is relevant. It's when people start writing crap like "quarter-Philippine cyclist" or "sculptor of partial Luxembourgish descent" that it gets ridiculous and probably just people trying to big up their own community. Islam is inseparable from the story of Malcolm X, just like Protestantism from Billy Graham or Catholicism from Mother Theresa. Unknown Temptation (talk) 15:37, 19 May 2025 (UTC)

parts about his sexuality

Could we delete the sections about his sexuality due to undue weight? Also, from reading the section, it seems that the view that Malcolm X was bisexual is only held by a fringe view, yet it is written in wikivoice? this is curious and it must be changed, thanks.
