The dose section is contrary to what my Pediatrician just prescribed for my child's pinworm infection. We were prescribed 2 x 100mg tablets to be taken two weeks apart. This at least partially contradicts the dose section. It appears inaccurate and has no citations.

Mebendazole blocks polymixin based microtubule formation, destroying the glucose uptake receptor in the nematode. This article is poorly written and incorrect.

What exactly is the mechanism of action of this drug, the article mentions both glucose uptake inhabition and preventing spindle formation, vastly different actions. Which is it? Both?

I agree that this is an incredibly badly written page. What does "selectively and irreversibly blocking uptake of glucose and other nutrients in susceptible adult intestine where helminths dwell" mean? That the drug prevents the host's intestine from absorbing these nutrients? So it kills the patient?

The manufacturers website says that it prevents the worms taking up glucose and they die because of lack of energy.

Which is it? Currently the article claims both:

“In the United States a single dose is about 18 USD.[3]”

“In the United States a single dose is about 440.00 USD as of 2016, while in Australia and the UK it costs about 5 USD.[8]”

Under the Cost subcategory there is this line:

"In Australia 6 x 100mg costs approximately US$9 while in the UK this would cost around US$19.[20] and about US$5 in Europe."

With the citation linking to an FT article locked behind a paywall.

Currently in the UK Mebendazole under the Ovex brand (100mg x 4 tablet dose) are sold online for £6, £6 is about $8 US or just over $11 Australian.

In pharmacies in the UK it is often cheaper, but I cannot give you an exact figure. So it seems as though if the $18 price is written in that FT article, it is either incorrect or out of date.
