Mexican wine prior to the arrival of the Spaniards

The passage concerning the wine production starting with the arrival of the Spaniards requires some sort of citation. As I have read it many times, wine was produced prior to the arrival of the Spaniards. In fact, the Spanish article on Wikipedia covers this very issue.

The ambient temperature equivalence cited as 100F (55 C) is wrong: 100°F is equal to only 37.8°C, please correct it. I believe the Fahrenheit value of 100F to be correct. (A temp as high as 55°C is only reached in the most scorching deserts! amclaussen.

Tax on exports

Is the tax applied to wine exported to other countries? Any other explanations as to why there is basically zero availability in the USA?
