"Unusually, despite being an English Goalkeeper playing in the Premiership and playing a remarkable part in the success of Wigan Athletic in the 2005-2006 season, Mike Pollitt was overlooked by Sven-Goran Eriksson for the FIFA World Cup, despite his strong form. Recently, after Robert Green became injured in a World Cup warm-up match, it was Ben Foster who made the standby-list instead, for the reserve place in the World Cup squad."

No disrespect to Mike Pollit but he is by no means any better than Robert Green or their current goalkeeper Chris Kirkland even David James is better than Pollit!! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nathan Hoey (talkcontribs) 13:19, 22 October 2006 (UTC{{{3|}}})
