– This cyclist's entry was created in February 2007 and remained as Mikhail Ignatiev until February 2011 when it was unilaterally moved to Mikhail Ignatiev (cyclist) to accommodate the creation of Mikhail Ignatyev (politician) as well as the Mikhail Ignatyev disambiguation page which was assigned the politician's surname transliteration, rather than the cyclist's. Inconsistent transliterations of the same name are relatively common, thus it would be more intuitive to leave both entries' main title headers without parenthetical qualifiers, delete the two-man dab page and simply adjust the already-existing hatnotes atop each man's article. Another recent Russian name transliteration inconsistency (Maxim Naumov and Maksim Naumov) was likewise resolved via use of hatnotes, rather than parenthetical qualifiers at Talk:Maxim Naumov#Requested move 30 January 2025. — Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 21:14, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

  • Oppose. I think it's clearer as it is given the different possible transliterations of the same name. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:42, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
