{{Spoken article requested|Talsh Empire (talk)|Muhammad Ali Jinnah was important as convincing the british to divide India for the Muslim, although he had always believed that Hindu-Muslim unity was possible, Jinnah reluctantly came to the view that partition was necessary to safeguard the rights of Indian Muslims. His insistence on this issue through negotiations with the British government resulted in the partition of India and the formation of the state of Pakistan on 14 August 1947.}}

Its Delhi not Dehli

The spelling of Delhi is wrongly entered under the photograph "Jinnah arguing with Gandhi". Aadarshi Koundinya (talk) 07:07, 17 November 2024 (UTC)

Pakistan's foreign policy and Jinnah

Can we include more detailed information on Jinnah's role in shaping Pakistan's foreign policy in it's early years , particularly his approach towards India and West ? Khan Karim Khan (talk) 15:51, 1 March 2025 (UTC)

:If there is information from a high-quality reliable source, presented in a neutral tone, I would have long objection, though given the length of this article, it might be best to have a stand-alone article about his policies during his final year when Pakistan was independent. Wehwalt (talk) 16:46, 1 March 2025 (UTC)

::Yes the idea of a new separate article is good , but a brief summary of that can be mentioned in this article and I believe it must be because it is a complete biography of him and that was a very crucial year and step in his life that is still impacting Pakistan after all these years . Ancestry

This is a recent addition to the early life section, "According to Jinnah, his ancestor was a Rajput from Sahiwal in Punjab who moved into Kathiawar after becoming a Khoja." citing Jinnah, Pakistan and Islamic Identity: The Search for Saladin by Akbar Ahmed. I quote this source in full [https://books.google.com/books?id=RqyniTHXFxUC&lpg=PP1&pg=PA4]:

{{talk quote|"Jinnah's family traced its descent from Iran and reflected Shia, Sunni, and Ismaili influences; some of the family names - Valji, Manbai and Nathoo - were even 'akin to Hindu names' (F. Jinnah 1987: 50). Such things mattered in a Muslim society conscious of underlining its non-Indian origins, a society where people gained status through family names such as Sayyed and Qureshi (suggesting Arab descent), Ispahani (Iran) and Durrani (Afghanistan). Another source has a different explanation of Jinnah's origins. Mr Jinnah, according to a Pakistani author, said that his male ancestor was a Rajput from Sahiwal in the Punjab who has married into the Ismaili Khojas and settled in Kathiawar (Beg 1986:888)".}}

Ahmed is quoting Aziz Beg here, whom I cannot find much information about but what does he write in Jinnah and His Times: A Biography [https://books.google.com/books?id=JeVtAAAAMAAJ]:

{{talk quote|In a place called Paneli, which was more like a hamlet than a village lived Poonja Meghji. He was known to belong to the Khoja community. But his grandson once claimed that he belonged to a Muslim Rajput family of Sahiwal District ...}}

So, not only has Ahmed incorrectly attributed this to Jinnah, he himself cites this claim as an alternative view away from the mainstream as does Beg. There have been a number of theories regarding Jinnah's family/ancestry [including another one noted above by Ahmed of Iranian descent and others such as his father being a Hindu], most of these are from non-scholars and distant relatives and don't hold up to scrutiny neither appear in any prominent reliable biography. The only thing known with certainly is that he was a Khoja and this is clearly attributed to him and immediate family and appears in all standard biographies. I will be removing the misrepresented and unreliable claim from the article, such theories maybe better placed at Jinnah family [though I doubt their relevance there as well considering the dubiousness] but definitely not at an FA such as this one.
