muzzle velocity

"By sealing the gap, the velocity of the bullet is increased by 50 to 150 ft/s (15 to 45 m/s)."

My guess is that this is indicating the increase, and not the total velocity. If so, it should probably be re-worded to indicate as such. My impression is that it's stating the total velocity. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mushroombrew (talkcontribs) 18:24, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Very well played sir. You have plainly indicated, for all to see, the depth of your intellectualism. Samf4u (talk) 02:23, 31 March 2015 (UTC)

Nagant has been retired from police service

According to Wiki-article: "It remains in use with the Russian Railways and remote police forces".{{cite web|url=http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg102-e.htm |title=Modern Firearms - Handguns - Nagant 1895 |publisher=World.guns.ru |date= |accessdate=2010-07-20}}.

That is not correct information.

In Russian Federation Nagant was retired from police service a long time ago; Nagant was retired from service of postal security service in the year 2003Постановление Правительства РФ № 248 от 24.03.2000 «Об обеспечении служебным оружием, патронами к оружию и специальными средствами должностных лиц организаций федеральной почтовой связи»; Nagant was retired from bailiff security service (Федеральная служба судебных приставов) since the year 2009.

In Ukraine Nagant was retired from police & security service in the year 2008.

But I don't know about Middle Asia. 2.60.184.105 (talk) 16:59, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

:I've heard of it being in use with the MVD of the Donetsk People's Republic as late as 2020. I'll try and dig up verifiable evidence of that. I'm not sure if semi-legal quasi state actors can be listed here though. In any case, they probably switched to Makarovs after their formal absorption by Russia by this point. Belgian use

If I understand the source given for Belgium as a user, the source only states the weapon was produced in Belgium (Both for commercial and Russian use), but it does not explicitly state Belgian state or military use. It should be removed. Thoughts?

Orphaned references in [[:Nagant M1895]]

I check pages listed in :Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of :Nagant M1895's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Use by the Axis-powers

I can't cite a source, but the Nagant revolver was captured in large numbers by the Axis-forces during the war against the Soviet Union. I've red that many soldiers of the Wehrmacht, the romanian, hungarian and finnish armies carried this weapon. If someone has a source, that should be added! Swedish/Norwegian/Belgian Nagants

There's mention of these in this article but this seems debatable as they're about earlier black powder models without the special cylinder, which doesn't fit the article as it is about the 1895 model, and not the earlier models from the 1880's. There is even a picture of a 7.5mm cartridge for one of these older guns. Either they should be split out into different articles, or this article should be change to be about the Nagant revolvers in general. Nukleon (talk) 01:16, 19 November 2022 (UTC)
