Major update proposed

I propose to undertake a major review and update of this entire page. Some of the content is now out of date. The major development projects referenced are well advanced beyond the "Proposed" stage, and are currently nearing completion. There are significant new development projects at various stages of planning and approval that could be usefully described. The reference to the 1998 Auckland power crisis is somewhat misleading because it was caused by a failure within the Mercury Energy distribution network, rather than the National Grid, and I propose to clarify this. ::A bit slow in getting started on this, but I have now begun by re-arranging content to separate the AC transmission network and its upgrade projects from the HVDC link. I hope this is an improvement. Links have also been provided to a newly created page North Auckland and Northland grid upgrade project, and to the page Whakamaru to Brownhill Road transmission line. There are many old references and content that I will now seek to update Marshelec (talk) 08:01, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

Merging content about Whakamaru to Brownhill Road transmission line

It may be appropriate to merge the content from the page Whakamaru to Brownhill Road transmission line with this National Grid page. The Whakamaru to Brownhill road transmission line is notable, and is a particularly large project, but if this page is left as-is it is perhaps somewhat stranded. There are unlikely to be other pages written about other lines, and ultimately what is important to our electricity system is the transmission network, not individual lines. Comments please. :Separate feedback suggests leave the separate page and improve content and linkages, and I will work towards this.Marshelec (talk) 19:30, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
