Officially dead
http://www.netcaptor.com/
:Dear NetCaptor Friends,
:I haven't talked publicly about NetCaptor in several years, but I wanted to let you know that the project is officially dead. What a ride its been. ...
: Adam Stiles
Could anyone update article? Best regards, --Adamhauner (talk) 07:53, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
:: So, does this officially make it Abandonware? The author provided a key for anyone to use if they want - I really appreciate the gesture. As a paid user of Netcaptor since the early years, I found that it helped me 'tame' IE quite a bit (When I had to use IE, NetCaptor really helped make it a tolerable experience.) ::: Well, Wikipedia's definition of abandonware is software "that is no longer claimed, owned, or copyrighted". I don't think Adam Stiles gave up his copyrights or released NetCaptor into the public domain or anything; he just stopped developing it and made it de facto freeware by releasing a key. But then again, a more common definition of abandonware on the Internet is simply software that ceases to be maintained after an amount of time, and NetCaptor definitely fits that definition, so...
::: But yeah, NetCaptor was a great browser for its time. It spawned a whole generation of clones, from Maxthon to Neoplanet to maybe even Firefox. The web was certainly a better experience thanks to that one little program =) -Clueless (talk) 17:54, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
::::Site officially announced dead four years ago, key non-functional for nearly that long, site now gone, download link no longer operational, both self-referential (not third party) references no longer in existence. It's time for a rewrite. 71.200.89.119 (talk) 11:33, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
