:The article has much more issues than those too; for one most of the history is wrong. None of NY 28N was LR 3; it was part of LR 25. And it wasn't NY 10 in 1924; it was part of NY 10. – TMF 19:34, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
::Fixed and passing. Imzadi1979 (talk) 20:30, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Copyeditor's thoughts
I'm not sure what one sentence in the "Route description" means. It says, "County Route 84 does eventually parallel to the nearby north of 28N, but this slowly begins to change as the main highway begins to progress southward." Maybe a word is missing. A couple of sentences later, the article mentions "some lakes". It would be good to include the names of the lakes if possible. Finetooth (talk) 00:00, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
:You might also add the exact height of Windfall Mountain and the names of the two streams that Harris Lake flows into, if those things can be found. Finetooth (talk) 00:32, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
Proposed revamp of first part of history section
On the FAC I mentioned that I believe the first two sections in History are overly detailed. Julian did trim some of the detail, but I think it could go further. Here's my proposed rewrite, which I'd place under the section heading "Early history" (Note: the prose still needs to be massaged in this version):Karanacs (talk) 16:01, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
Many of the earliest roads in the area crossed through Minerva. The first road known to have reached the settlement was established in 1804, when land along a highway from Saint Lawrence County to the town of Chester in Warren County, was populated by the West family. Minerva was mainly limited to the vicinity of the old highway, but as more people settled along the road, the town began to grow. For a time, the town boasted several water-powered sawmills, and the highway was used to transport lumber.{{cite book|title=The History of Essex County|author=H.P. Smith|publisher=D. Mason and Company|year=1885}}
However, the lumber industry began to fail,{{cite web|url=http://www.adkhistorycenter.org/esco/tow/minerva.html|title=Minverva, New York|publisher=Essex County Historical Society|date=2008|accessdate=2008-09-16}} and by 1840, the logging and lumber system had been replaced by vegetables. The town initiated river drives, which continued until 1950.
On March 15, 1828, part of Minerva and nearby Moriah was split into the town of Newcomb. Settlers had begun to arrive in this area in 1816. Settlement began along the shores of Lake Harris and Newcomb Lake, mainly along the old highway from Warren County to nearby Long Lake. Eventually, highways helped the town grow, and it reached a population of 300 by the 1880 census. The iron ore industry contributed to population growth via {{convert|30|mi|km|adj=on}} to {{convert|40|mi|km|adj=on}} roads to Lake Champlain that were meant for hauling ore. The highway from Warren County to Long Lake became part of the state system as early as 1909.{{cite map|url=http://books.google.com/books?id=m9INAAAAYAAJ&pg=RA1-PA509&dq=State+Route+22B,++Ticonderoga&ei=4iGySOm-MYGCywSU8p31Bg|title=Report of the State Commissioner of Highways Report of the State Commissioner of Highways|publisher=New York State Department of Highways|page=509}}
After 1845, Newcomb's iron ore industry began to decline and the town evolved into more of a sportsmen's resort. As a result, a road was built connecting Newcomb with nearby Minerva and Long Lake.{{cite web|url=http://www.adkhistorycenter.org/esco/tow/newcomb.html|title=Newcomb, New York|publisher=Essex County Historical Society|date=2008|accessdate=2008-09-16}}

[[WP:URFA/2020]]
Looking at this as part of the URFA/2020 FA sweeps. Not a NY highways expert, but this looks to be in pretty good shape. All that needs fixed it looks like is that the traffic statistics are 15 years old and should be updated if possible and that the mid-2010s road work stuff needs an update, as well. {{ping|Imzadi1979}} - would you be able to look at this, as well?
