The result of the move request was: Moved to Newspaper Enterprise Association NFL defensive player of the year. There's consensus to downcase the defensive player of the year part and render it as descriptive, and supported as "OK" by the nominator, but not much consensus for broader moves than that.  — Amakuru (talk) 15:42, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

:Newspaper Enterprise Association NFL Defensive Player of the Year → {{no redirect|Newspaper Enterprise Association George Halas Trophy}} – We've never had a particularly

good title for this page, from George S. Halas Trophy,

to Newspaper Enterprise Association Defensive Player of the Year Award,

to Newspaper Enterprise Association NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award,

to Newspaper Enterprise Association NFL Defensive Player of the Year award,

to Newspaper Enterprise Association NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

I can't find evidence in sources for capitalized "Defensive Player of the Year", with or without the other words around it. The refs mostly say things like "NEA's George Halas Trophy (or Cup or Award) for the best defensive player". It might make sense to take it back closer to where it started, but naturally disambiguated as Newspaper Enterprise Association George S. Halas Trophy. Or as a descriptive title as Newspaper Enterprise Association NFL defensive player of the year. Other ideas? Dicklyon (talk) 09:38, 26 February 2025 (UTC)

  • Move, but to Newspaper Enterprise Association NFL defensive player of the year. George Halas Trophy is an ambiguous term, so it needs to be distinguished from the one for the NFC Championship Game. Prefixing NEA doesn't really make it clear that this is the player trophy for DPOY. As it's a descriptive phrase and not a proper name, "defensive player of the year" should be lower case.—Bagumba (talk) 10:28, 26 February 2025 (UTC)
  • :Lots of award names don't make clear what the award is for (especially the various ones named after sports heros). So NEA should be adequate disambiguation. But if people prefer the more descriptive title, I'm OK with that, too. Dicklyon (talk) 23:16, 26 February 2025 (UTC)
  • ::But are the names 100% ambiguous? At least something like Jim Thorpe Award and Jim Thorpe Trophy slightly differ. And this is a defunct award by a present-day minor news syndicator. —Bagumba (talk) 02:44, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
  • Oppose all titles that do not include "NFL Defensive Player of the Year" as being helplessly and unnecessarily obscure Red Slash 19:05, 8 March 2025 (UTC)
