Meatpuppetry

The subject of this article is recruiting people to advocate for non-deletion of this article in violation of WP:MEAT. (Source: http://www.facebook.com/thedirtyarmy - thedirty's official Facebook fan page; in a post dated 7/23/2012, the page (presumably Nik Richie) writes "Please vote to save my new Wiki page" and links to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Nik_Richie) Damon Killian (talk) 03:30, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

::As of 7/28/2012, the aforementioned advocacy for non-deletion (and all mention of the Nik Richie article) has been deleted from the Facebook page shown above. Damon Killian (talk) 18:49, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

POV and sourcing issues

even those who wanted the article kept seemed to agree that it has serious problems with sourcing and point of view. These should be discussed and/or fixed. Beeblebrox (talk) 17:59, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

Background re: my March 2019 edits

  • Nik Richie came to my attention when I was defamed on his website. Nevertheless, I believe my edits stand on their own merit. My edits are not vandalism just because they were made by me.
  • When I made my March 10 edits, I had Nik blocked on Instagram and therefore could not view some of the sources quoted. When I unblocked Nik, I saw the quotes. My mistake there.
  • Despite this, I have once again removed the 2018 event and quote from the article's lead section. The Wikipedia authority figure, Shellwood, who I consulted about this edit conflict also believes those items did not belong in the lead section. See their talk page.
  • I have restored the as-of-2018 events to the Background section because it matches what is said in the Gazette Review source quoted by the other editing party (DS Cable). If they or anyone else has conflicting information from a valid source, change as appropriate. I have also removed the bold 'anonymity lost' subheading as unnecessary because the subsequent parts of the Background section cover much more than that 2008 event.
  • I have restored the as-of-2019 events because it is correct per the source. As of March 11, there are 7 new posts on The Dirty today, 6 yesterday, and 6 the day before, all about non-celebrities.
  • I removed all references to "Sasha Toth" from the News Events section because there was no reference to them in any of the sources that had been given. I also relocated the bullet about the site's temporary format change to the Background section since it was misplaced in News Events. Damon Killian (talk) 23:41, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

Proposed article revision May 2020

In my sandbox I have prepared a major revision to this article to improve its metadata (i.e. add more complete information to the references cited), address issues of undue weight, promotional content, sourcing e.g. primary sources and personal blogs, and format the article per Wikipedia's manual of style. Since changes to this article have proven contentious in the past, following administrator advice I am first linking to the draft from here and soliciting discussion. If you feel something about the draft needs improvement or explanation, please discuss below. Barring objection I will move the draft to the article space shortly.

For serious issues with the proposed revision, please consult WP:AUTOPROB for numerous recourse options. Damon Killian (talk) 03:19, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

:No feedback after 3 days - moved draft to mainspace. Damon Killian (talk) 04:24, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
