Linus Torvalds' Comments
What exactly does a "finger-giving-to-nvidia" speech imply? Is this really suitable for an encyclopedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by SJM978 (talk • contribs) 14:17, 25 December 2012 (UTC)
:I'm in agreement that such a description is un-encyclopedic. In fact, I wonder if the statement is justified at all - having seen the video, the comments might just as well have been about NVidia's unwillingness to provide proper driver support for their non-Android hardware. I'm moving the statement to here on the Talk page. See below.Josejuan05 (talk) 00:19, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
Linus Torvalds, the Linux kernel maintainer, in his famous finger-giving-to-Nvidia speech, criticized the company as being "the single worst company we've had to deal with" because it provided no support for Optimus laptops.[http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTEyMTc "Linus Torvalds Calls NVIDIA The Worst Company Ever"]. Linux Support?
I noticed that the new proprietary drivers include a --optimus switch to support it on Linux, I cannot however find any info on this other than on the NVidia page http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/310.40/README/optimus.html, has nobody noticed this? I noticed this while installing the CUDA 5.0 package, there is the --optimus switch. Is Bumblebee still needed? 208.49.239.6 (talk) 09:54, 20 March 2013 (UTC)
Shoul we mention nvidia-prime? https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PRIME http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTU0MDILbertolotti (talk) 14:21, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

i found an error
it says that the integrated gpu creates less fan noise. that is simply incorrect. when a game runs on my gtx 770m it generates very little fan noise but, when it is running on my intel hd 4600 it generates a lot of fan noise. the fan in fact runs faster when using the integrated gpu than it does when using the dedicated one. 84.208.108.74 (talk) 20:02, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
