ASAP Nast

ASAP Nast has signed to Opium per the credits of his new song, “No Hammer”. The song lists AWGE and Opium as labels, and was distributed by Foundation who distributed Ken and HXG’s first projects. I feel this is the best confirmation anybody could ask for but apparently Apple isn’t a “reliable source”.

If Apple isn’t a reliable source despite being one of the biggest streaming platforms, what is? Ezlo Jeslan (talk) 15:17, 9 May 2025 (UTC)

::{{ping|Ezlo Jeslan}} Being "the biggest streaming platform" has nothing to do with verifiability anyone can submit a song through a distribution and tag it with any word as a label. See WP:SELFSOURCE. Even I could publish a song via DistroKid, say that the song was released with Opium in the included label field on the form, and it will end up all streaming platforms with "Opium" in the label credits. By your logic I guess this should mean I should be added as an Opium artist per the Wikipedia article instantly because of this? If you have no idea how reliable sourcing works - despite I linked the guideline on your very own talk page - perhaps contributing to this encyclopedia isn't for you. — Lil Happy Lil Sad :): 19:47, 9 May 2025 (UTC)

:::@Lil Sad Lil Happy is exactly right. A Wikipedia user actually did use DistroKid to release their songs under "Opium", and then went on to use that as evidence that he was signed to the label. He seems to have deleted most of his old music, but here's [https://open.spotify.com/album/75qTOfnpjtoxgNXDV6EMni one song] still on Spotify that was supposedly released under "Opium". Also, read [https://music.apple.com/us/artist/lil-snvrk/1552643245 the about section] of his old Apple Music page, which he wrote himself. It should be clear at this point that streaming services are not reliable sources. He started an edit war (see: Special:Permalink/1190406992 and view newer revisions from that point on), which I don't want to happen again over mentions of ASAP Nast. As such, any editor who wants to add a new artist to this article should support the addition with a reliable, independently verifiable source.

:::Also, pinging @Ezlo Jeslan. scoutguy138 22:31, 9 May 2025 (UTC)

:::@Lil Sad Lil Happy @Scoutguy138 I wouldn't say that's the case here; I also mentioned that this song was distributed by Foundation Media, which distributed Ken and HXG's first albums. Given that, plus his existing connections to Carti via ASAP Mob, I feel that there is good enough reason to say for sure he's signed to Opium. Ezlo Jeslan (talk) 16:43, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
