Palaeoecology?

Now that the article is on the main page, I just noticed that it seems to be missing a section on palaeoecology. What animals did it live alongside? How was the environment? The other featured dinosaur articles have such a section. Perhaps a short section could be added, {{u|HMallison}}? FunkMonk (talk) 02:10, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

:Have predator teeth-marks been found on any of the fossil bones? The BBC special WWD showed a Plateosaurus sp living alongside Coelophysis in N. America. Valid? 50.111.19.250 (talk) 10:54, 29 July 2021 (UTC)

Species identification

All the skeleton images once identified as P. engelhardti on this article are now labeled as P. trossingensis. Has there been any source changing the identification of the specimens? (afaik, only the type species was changed, and P. engelhardti was never suppressed or synonymized with P. trossingensis — in which case the former would have priority) 49.144.202.68 (talk) 13:27, 24 August 2024 (UTC)

:Yes, see [https://bioone.org/journals/the-bulletin-of-zoological-nomenclature/volume-76/issue-1/bzn.v76.a042/Opinion-2435-Case-3560--Plateosaurus-Meyer-1837-Dinosauria-Sauropodomorpha/10.21805/bzn.v76.a042.pdf?casa_token=AfWzDl0P23UAAAAA:8PQO_kGY6w0AEzy5GJ5TkoKyqGnaOG0UOoNvkQlzxoMTczX8iTnBqFcdtpazO8o__2dV7qmU1r8]. ::It doesn’t say anything about reassigning any specimens, just changing which species gets the honor of “type species”. 49.144.202.68 (talk) 15:33, 24 August 2024 (UTC)

:::It says that the genus name "Plateosaurus" is "conserved", i.e., overwriting the priority rule. P. engelhardti is restricted to a single specimen, everything else that had been assigned to that species went to P. trossingensis. Jens Lallensack (talk) 15:40, 24 August 2024 (UTC)

::::If its helpful, Lallensack et al. 2021 specifically list GPIT-PV-30784 (previously designated as GPIT/RE/9392, GPIT 1, or UT 1), SMNS 12949, SMNS 13200, SMNS 52967, SMNS 52968, SMNS 12950, MB.R.1937 (previously HMN XXIV), MB.R.4430.1 and AMNH FARB 6810 as trossingensis specimens.
