I went to [http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/qip.ru] and saw it had over 2000 sites linking to it, and a fairly high internet visit rating. It doesn't show actual numbers as to how many people go there. Google says there are millions of search results for the official website, when I search for it. Can anyone read Russian? The Google translator program I used left me without a clear answer as to how many people use this software. You don't get mentioned that many times across the internet without being notable. :I can read Russian. The last qip was released October 2nd, 2009 [http://qip.ru/ru/pages/download_infium_ru/]. The client supports both ICQ and XMPP protocols, as well as others (mail.ru "Agent" chat program, IRC, SIP). Mobile versions are available for Symbian and Windows Mobile. I went to the QIP wikipedia article (English) today and was surprised to find it deleted; the deletion log is already closed and the discussion is unfortunately rather disheartening: the "for deletion" reasoning is based on the mistaken assumption that QIP is dead. The proponents of this base this on the fact that they can't find any information in English. qip is in fact very much alive and a very modern client. I would be willing to contribute to the English language wikipedia article (by providing references/summaries to the large amount of information available in the Russian language) if it can be restored and discussed in a mature fashion (without people writing "QIP is dead!!!" as an argument, which is unfortunately pure igorance), but I am new to wikipedia and don't want to fight an uphill battle against the camp that deleted the article alone. :QIP is the most widespread IM Client in CIS countries (Russia, Ukraine etc.). It's _millions_ of users. It's absolutely alive. I don't know Windows peepz who would use something else. For "QIP", Russian Google finds 4,750,000 pages. Rambler's rating at http://top100.rambler.ru/top100/Software/index.shtml.ru (category "Programs") places their site TOP1 (averagely about 3,177,290 hits a day, 733,175 users in last month.
