Move Request
I am requesting that this article be moved to Rafa Cabrera Bello. His name in nearly every source is spelled without the dash, including on the PGA Tour{{cite web|title=Rafa Cabrera Bello PGA Tour profile|url=https://www.pgatour.com/players/player.26499.rafa-cabrera-bello.html|publisher=PGATour.com|accessdate=September 20, 2020}}, European Tour{{cite web|title=Rafa Cabrera Bello European Tour profile|url=https://www.europeantour.com/players/32111/|accessdate=September 20, 2020}}, and World Golf Rankings.{{cite web|title=Rafa Cabrera Bello OWGR profile|url=http://www.owgr.com/en/Ranking/PlayerProfile.aspx?playerID=7457|publisher=Official World Golf Rankings|accessdate=September 20, 2020}} He doesn't use the dash himself on his social media profiles.{{cite web|title=Rafa Cabrera Bello Twitter profile|url=https://twitter.com/RCabreraBello?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor|publisher=Twitter|accessdate=September 20, 2020}}
:I see we don't even have Rafa Cabrera Bello as a redirect. Perhaps also worth considering his sister Emma Cabrera-Bello at the same time, although there's no particular reason why they should be the same. Nigej (talk) 06:13, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
::Seems fairly uncontroversial. Based on Spanish naming customs, and common usage, both articles should probably be moved. The missing redirect is simply down to it not being created when the article was moved from Rafael to Rafa. wjematherplease leave a message... 12:45, 27 September 2020 (UTC)
:::Just a question, but why would some Spanish surnames have a dash in between and others not? e.g. Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño
::::Spanish naming customs says "In an English-speaking environment, Spanish-named people sometimes hyphenate their surnames to avoid Anglophone confusion or to fill in forms with only one space provided for last name, thus: Mr. José Antonio Gómez-Iglesias." In our case we don't generally include middle names so there's less likelyhood of someone thinking Cabrera was a middle name rather than part of his surname. Nigej (talk) 13:32, 27 September 2020 (UTC)
::::Generally it's simply to make it easier for Anglophiles to see that both names are family names; many people don't use their maternal family name, e.g. Olazábal, Ballesteros, Jiménez, García, etc. As for Gonzo, I don't know if that's his full family name or just his paternal family name. wjematherplease leave a message... 13:36, 27 September 2020 (UTC)
