Change the word “Indian Godman” to “Indian Thinker and Guru” 2409:40F0:4010:91BB:7536:9353:FCC5:C9D7 (talk) 07:14, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
:As someone has objected to my edits to guru, Hindu gurus are morally conservative and they respect the religious tradition. Rajneesh was their opposite. So, yeah, Western people believe Ranjeesh was a guru, Hindus not so much. tgeorgescu (talk) 10:54, 7 October 2024 (UTC)

Osho's teachings on sexuality were part of a broader exploration of human consciousness. He viewed sex as a powerful energy that, when channeled consciously, could lead to spiritual growth. His emphasis on open and honest sexuality was aimed at breaking down societal taboos and freeing individuals from guilt and shame. While this perspective was controversial, it was never his sole focus. Osho's discourses covered a vast range of topics, from meditation and philosophy to psychology and mysticism. Labeling him solely as a "sex guru" oversimplifies his complex and multifaceted teachings.
He is not a sex guru. 2409:4088:908E:A859:66A1:EB:E9BC:440 (talk) 18:13, 16 November 2024 (UTC)

::Please remove “In expressing a more progressive attitude to sexuality he caused controversy in India during the late 1960s and became known as "the sex guru".” as it is also mentioned in Reception...
::He had also stated his views on this controversy.

:::::The lead is supposed to contain a summary of what is in the body so it is okay to repeat content, assuming it is important. Note that if "sex guru" was a common enough term applied to him, then his views (re your link) are not germane. RegentsPark (comment) 15:04, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
::::::I understood.
::::::I am not a fan of osho. I know that from an editorial perspective, it seems okay to repeat the summary, to maintain its standard and I also know if "sex guru" was a common enough term applied to him, then his views (referenced my link) are not germane.
::::::The phrase 'known as' doesn't simply imply any positive or negative connotation. But in Sanskrit 'guru' means 'dispeller of darkness' and 'sex guru' is simply a pejorative label but not commonly applied to him so I think there are some minor mistakes in the lead section. It would be better if it is changed from“In expressing a more progressive attitude to sexuality he caused controversy in India during the late 1960s and became known as "the sex guru".”to“In expressing a more progressive attitude to sexuality he caused controversy in India during the late 1960s and became criticized as "the sex guru". 2409:4088:811A:B8D4:81B0:C816:AA46:9E85 (talk) 16:35, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
:::::::Of the three references, the only one I can see doesn't say that this was used as a criticism (it uses the term "popularly"). RegentsPark (comment) 17:52, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
