Correction?

I've heard the audio of Nagin's "chocolate city" speech quite a few times... and I believe one of these quotes is slightly wrong...

"Surely he doesn't approve of us being in Iraq under false pretenses."

I believe he phrased it more like this...

"Surely he is not 'approval' of us being in Iraq..."

I must note that I am not currently listening to the audio, but check it out folks, you'll hear what I'm taking about.

NYC Slur

"But when Pitts points to flood-damaged cars in the street and a house washed partially into the street, the mayor shoots back. 'That’s alright. You guys in New York can’t get a hole in the ground fixed and it’s five years later. So let’s be fair.'"

Someone keeps putting back in PR nonsense...

Someone keeps editing this page to re-insert a bunch of PR nonsense, which is irrelevant, of dubious authority, and sourced only to Nagin's self-published memoir. I'm going to delete them out one more time in a day or so, unless there are objections here.

If they get put back in again, I'm going to take them out and ask for the page to be locked. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Djcheburashka (talkcontribs) 23:58, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

More puffery and note 23...

Every time I come back to this page someone's gone through it and tried to re-write it to be fully of puffery. Right now there are a whole series of dubious hagiographic claims all citing the same thing, citation number 23. Its difficult to understand how claims about the content of 5 different documents released over a 10-year period could be sourced to one citation. But putting that aside, there is no citation 23. It's an incomplete URL that links to nothing.

If no-one objects in a week I'm going to take out all the citation 23 stuff. That happens to be most of his first term, so I'm going to revert that to the last neutral version.

Speak now...

Katrina firearms confiscations, NRA and SAF lawsuit, contempt of court, etc...

All of these were once in the article and were scrubbed without comment during a rewrite.

None of these topics seem to exist in the talk pages and archives either.

I assume if I just paste them in with source from a 2011 version of this page someone will have a cow (while still acting in good faith)

Any suggestions on how to re-incorporate these historical bits? 72.66.69.154 (talk) 16:24, 15 September 2017 (UTC)
