:Let's start with the easy one: the article is indisputably an orphan, so you should not have removed the orphan tag. If you have some doubt about that, check out Wikipedia:Orphan for the definition . As for context, the article is not written for users with no knowledge of the subject, see Wikipedia:Make technical articles understandable. In fact I think it's a good candidate for a selective merge to an article like Error detection and correction which gives some background explanation of how, why, where.
