Editing Plan
Hello! I am editing this article for my Technical Editing course, so I wanted to announce a few things I will be working on for the next few weeks.
- I will assess the extensive chunks of text for necessary and unnecessary content. If the text cannot be organized within a section or is entirely superfluous, I will delete it.
- I will add sections for authors mentioned throughout the text and refine the titles of headings and subheadings to clarify the subject discussed within a section.
- I will change the wording and diction within the article to adhere to Wikipedia's NPOV policy. WP:NPOV
I wanted to inform the talk page of my plan to give others a standpoint on future changes while inviting discussions. Please let me know if you have any concerns that may arise during this process. Space Cooki (talk) 19:44, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
New References
Looking through this article thoroughly, I noticed that a Wayback Machine is needed to access many references. While I would update the references to the current version, sadly, they don't exist.
Some examples include references:
- 17
- 18
- 5
- 103
While I won't be finding new sources at the moment because of limited time, I would encourage anyone interested in searching for new sources to do so. Space Cooki (talk) 04:45, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Balance
There is not enough informational balance within the subgenre section. Some genres, like fantasy, lack the specificity that genres like science fiction romance have. As such, I believe this problem should be countered by adding only the baseline information for each subgenre or reducing much of the information.
This problem is seen throughout the article, which I will address as I edit. Space Cooki (talk) 21:39, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
I see that the American and International Market section is filled with different and insufficient information on the same topic of balance. As such, I cannot go about my initial idea of adding a table with the critical information instead of having it in one paragraph. I believe those looking for the market on Romance Literature would appreciate the fast-to-navigate information. I have highlighted the market information at the moment, so again, I encourage people interested in this area to create a table to organize said information. For Example:
class="wikitable"
|+ North American Romance Novel Market | ||
Year | Total readers | Total sales |
---|---|---|
1982 | 20 million | $300 million |
1991 | Example | Example |
2008 | 74 million | $1.37 billion |

Substantial edits
Looking at the history, you can see that I have made substantial edits surrounding the different subgenres (science fiction romance) or other aspects throughout the article. I made them based on too many details on a subject or unnecessary information. If anyone has a problem with my edits, please don't hesitate to talk to me to discuss what we can do to make the article as great as possible. I will continue my edits but don't hesitate to contact me with any issues. Space Cooki (talk) 19:07, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
