Because Saini community is very much different from Mali community "The Sainis believe that their ancestors were Yadavas and that it was the same lineage in which Krishna was born. In the 43rd generation of the Yadavas there was a king known as Shoor or Sur, the son of King Vidaratha....It was in the name of these, father and son, that the community was known as Shoorsaini or Sursaini." People of India: Haryana, p 430, Kumar Suresh Singh, Madan Lal Sharma, A. K. Bhatia, Anthropological Survey of India, Published by Published on behalf of Anthropological Survey of India by Manohar Publishers, 1994, they both are registered separately in the census of 1881, and can be seen in second column where saini mention in last of second column{{cite book |last=Balfour |first=Edward |author-link=Edward Balfour |date=1885 |title=The Cyclopædia of India and of Eastern and Southern Asia: Commercial, Industrial and Scientific, Products of the Mineral, Vegetable, and Animal Kingdoms, Useful Arts and Manufactures, Volume 2 |edition=1st |url=https://play.google.com/books/reader?id=yvNWAAAAMAAJ&hl=en&pg=GBS.PA294 |access-date=June 23, 2021 }} and so on. Also the Mali was included under the Rajput sub-category in the 1891 State Census Report for Marwar.Action sociology and development, pp 198, Bindeshwar Pathak, Concept Publishing Company, 1992

Very messy page.

You access for free here:
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/314832112_Caste_Hierarchy_Dominance_and_Change_in_Punjab
- Change to "Saini is a farming and landowning caste of Punjab". (Page 60-62)
- Add "Sainis, like other farming castes such as the Jats, dominate the social and cultural lives of rural villages in Punjab. Their size, farming and political visibility, strengthens their position in local society." (Page 60-62)
- If page is about Sainis in Punjab why are there references all these other states. Remove those reference, does not make sense.
- Move the OBC sentence to the post-independence section. Also add that this status is controversial amongst people, as some see it as a way to take advantage of system. Journal Source:
https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=190229. Page 22.
- The line at top does not make sense, as Saini in Punjab also use that surname. They just have different history. Vans1993 (talk) 14:44, 9 February 2025 (UTC)
:* Change to "Saini is a farming and landowning caste of Punjab". (Page 60-62) {{done}}

1. Please remove the mention of "Other Backward Class (OBC)" from the page, as no other caste surnames have their categories mentioned on Wikipedia.
2. Change the sentence:
**"Saini (pronunciationⓘ) is a caste of northern India. The community is given representation in government jobs and educational institutes as an Other Backward Class (OBC) in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh."**
**To:**
**"Saini (pronunciationⓘ) is a caste of northern India."**
3. As a person with the surname Saini, I do not belong to the OBC category, and many others with this surname do not fall under OBC either. The current statement is misleading and does not apply to all Sainis.
4. No other caste surnames have their reservation category explicitly mentioned on Wikipedia pages. To maintain neutrality and consistency across Wikipedia, such classifications should not be included in surname pages.
5. Please ensure neutrality and consistency across Wikipedia by not including caste-based classifications under surname pages, as this is not done for other surnames. Ssimran07 (talk) 17:55, 23 February 2025 (UTC)
:{{Not done}}: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. There is currently a source indicating OBC status; we would need a newer source indicating either that they are not OBC or have been removed from the list. Primefac (talk) 14:13, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
