'Rock' /Synth 'Rock'/Alternative 'Rock' / Industrial 'Rock'

Why the genre 'Rock' is incorrect:

Daniel Miller Quote (p 333, in the book ‘Stripped’ By Jonathan Miller): “The thing is, they’re not a rock band... because it’s not pure [rock ‘n roll]. There’s a horrible kind of authenticity about rock music, and they’re definitely not authentic in that sense” http://books.google.com/books?id=gIrZbmss3kEC&pg=PA333&lpg=PA333&dq=martin+gore+depeche+mode+%22not+a+rock+band%22&source=web&ots=67M7nujLj1&sig=Z4Iq30etb0pSfB-mvB_ceTps3Ns&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=1&ct=result.Kalied04 (talk) 14:57, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Alan Wilder himself mentioned on his Recoil website http://www.recoil.co.uk/, Q&A Section, Songs of Faith and Devotion ... "Well, SOFAD is far from a rock album but that's another issue"

1,500.000 sales in us?

just a few weeks back wiki said it sold 900.000+ so where as these 600.000 sales come from? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.110.118.132 (talk) 22:06, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

album was leaked before release?

I'm reading Appetite for Self-Destruction, and the book asserts that this album was leaked to the internet ahead of release. Sounds fishy since mp3 wasn't available and hard drives were small back then; but it still seems like an interesting point to add to the article, if it can be confirmed.
