Pronunciation
svirfneblin (pronounced svirf-NEB-lin{{need-IPA}}[1]): I'm gonna guess it's something like {{IPA|en|sfərfˈnɛblɪn|}}, though that first syllable might instead make it {{IPA|en|sfɪrfˈnɛblɪn|}}. If we can disobey English phonotactics slightly, the possibilities expand a bit to include {{IPA|en|svərfˈnɛblɪn|}} and {{IPA|en|svɪrfˈnɛblɪn|}} as well (and the respelling-pronunciation does seem to make that ⟨v⟩ be voiced). If you've heard it pronounced in real life by a semi-authoritative source, go ahead and add the correct pronuncation to the article itself! 129.170.187.157 (talk) 05:01, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
I've added an IPA pronunciation, as {{IPA|en|sviːrfˈnɛblɪn|}}, An "sv" sound is indeed possible (look at German or Swedish). 107.3.29.160 (talk) 14:50, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
I've changed it from {{IPAc-en|s|v|ɪ|r|f|'|n|ɛ|b|l|ɪ|n}} to {{IPAc-en|s|v|ɜr|f|'|n|ɛ|b|l|ɪ|n}}. That's the way I've always heard it pronounced, and RPG StackExchangehttp://rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/50746/how-do-you-pronounce-svirfneblin agrees. Wallraven (talk) 00:21, 12 November 2014 (UTC)
