I'm from France and never heard of it, when i search the subject in french literature, nothing exist. This is quite a crazy story and yet, this only appear after 2010 on the english web with no foundation. All articles that exists on this come back to this page. 77.131.76.70 (talk) 07:53, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
:What makes you say so? The article refers to various sources, several of them from the 19th century, and none published after 2010. Gawaon (talk) 10:27, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
:I agree, major tone, wording and sourcing issues in this article. Many of the claims in this article appear to be embellished. The central origin source appears to be this article https://books.google.fr/books?id=EQkHAAAAcAAJ&pg=RA1-PA87&lpg=RA1-PA87 as well as a few others written by Pierre-François Percy. Just 1 example: I’ve read the source material of the author with the most citations on this page, Jan Bondeson, and in his books he seems to state things that Percy(the first to ever write about Tarrare) himself never said or did. I don’t know how this article has been up for so long without the necessary revisions. Right now with the embellished tone & inappropriate sourcing it reads like a fairytale. 2600:100E:B0CA:F47:8D10:4C4B:B42C:9440 (talk) 08:44, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
::Looked at talk page history and apparently 1 other guy 8 years ago had similar questions about Bondeson. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Tarrare&diff=prev&oldid=833895521 2600:100E:B0CA:F47:8D10:4C4B:B42C:9440 (talk) 09:10, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
:::That’s not true though, is it? The person eight years ago asked if it was okay to have half the references to one source, that’s it. That’s a question of whether this relies too heavily on one source, it’s not questioning the source. - SchroCat (talk) 20:37, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
These are somewhat old articles from 2010, and standards have changed. Also, the FA process tends to not question the sources used in articles, merely that the sources actually did say that. This article and Pig-faced women both heavily use Bondeson, and it may be time to re-evaulate that source and its claims. The article may need to re be re-written with new sources. :No, FA source reviews examine the reliability of the source as well as other points. - SchroCat (talk) 20:37, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
