Bozacaada

Shouldn't this article be titled Bozacaada? Seraphim System (talk) 00:14, 25 July 2018 (UTC)

::Yes it should, but for political reasons a number of editors have blocked the move. This despite the empirical evidence suggesting that Bozcaada is, in the 21st century, the common name for the island in English-language media. 137.132.228.28 (talk) 04:58, 14 August 2018 (UTC)

::Most of the article is about the history of the island, and most sources, I think, refer to the historical island as "Tenedos". Perhaps what should happen is that the article be split into two articles, one called "Tenedos" about the historical Bozacaada, and the other "Bozacaada" about the modern island? Paul August 16:35, 14 August 2018 (UTC)

::: Actually I now see, that an article about the modern island already seems to exist: Bozcaada, Çanakkale. Paul August 16:38, 14 August 2018 (UTC)

::: Please see Talk:Tenedos/Archive 6#Why did this get moved to a Greek name (along with Gökçeada)?, for the last previous discussion on the matter. Paul August 16:40, 14 August 2018 (UTC)

:::: User N-H had all the valid points imho. The thing is the Turkish presence in English Wikipedia is quite small, as as a nation they have one of the lowest English speaking percentages. Also compared to Greek diaspora Turk diaspora is inconsiderable in Anglosphere. Any article about a shared culture item is immediately named as other language's version, even though the use of Turkish one in English is far more prevalent. Just looking at edit histories of opposing parties one can easily see that most of them have connections with Greece. really makes you think huh 🙄 Apart from all of that, redirection of Gökçeada article to this page makes no sense. If this article only shows "the history" of the island as claimed by some in the discussion then why it is redirected to this page and not Gökçeada, Çanakkale? Pure Greek nationalist clownery--89.245.131.94 (talk) 21:21, 17 November 2019 (UTC)

:::::Unfortunately, the problem is that there is a strong anti-Turkish sentiment in the English wikipedia, through the armenian and greek lobby. Öztürklü (talk) 13:50, 23 February 2023 (UTC)

::::::This island is a Turkish island and its official name is Bozcaada. Metuboy (talk) 00:43, 18 November 2024 (UTC)

:::::::The island is indeed Turkish territory but official names aren't necessary the common English names.Alexikoua (talk) 00:24, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
