{{ping|Glenysyoung87}} Please stop editing [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:ElKevbo&diff=prev&oldid=1259401758 this article about your employer].
- In [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Texas_Tech_University&diff=prev&oldid=1259402285 this edit], you:
- Added an external link to the body of the article, something we [[WP:EL|don't do].
- Added a few sentences about the university's celebrating it's centennial. That is trivial information that isn't necessary in an encyclopedia article.
- Added misleading information about the "Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education list[ing] Texas Tech among 115 most prominent research schools, commonly known as 'Carnegie Tier One'". First, the classification system doesn't do anything - it's managed by a group of people who made the decision about the university's classification. In 2015, it was managed by a team at Indiana University and it's now managed by people at the American Council on Education. Second, the phrase "Carnegie Tier One" is not in common use. Finally, the entire description is not neutral and includes unnecessary details such as some following dates when the classification system was refreshed with new data and classifications and the number of R1 institutions.
- Removed the 2006 date from a Public Art Review ranking which makes it sound like the ranking is current or contemporary instead of being 18 years old.
- Added many links to the section about intercollegiate athletics when links to those articles are already included.
- In [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Texas_Tech_University&diff=next&oldid=1259403878 subsequent] [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Texas_Tech_University&diff=next&oldid=1259403878 edits], you added yet more external links to the article.
I've reverted those edits but restored most of the unobjectionable updates and edits.
We welcome your suggestions and requests here in Talk but I strongly recommend that you not edit the article directly unless you are making edits that everyone would agree are not objectionable or problematic in any way e.g., updating existing information with new information supported by current sources. :Thank you for the clarification. I have updated my user page for transparency on my employment with Texas Tech. And I apologize; I wasn't aware that external links were inappropriate in the body of the article. I will include those as references instead. I will be sure to post any edits that seem at all questionable here, rather than making them directly on the page. Glenysyoung87 (talk) 00:33, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
