"Known for" list
{{Edit semi-protected|Thomas Edison|answered=yes}}
It could stand some trimming, couldn't it? "Grasshopper telegraphy" really? I suppose if one were deeply immersed in the radio invention controversy one might know about it, but what basis is there to say that he is "known for" it? 2601:642:4600:D3B0:A1B7:99D2:61CB:C097 (talk) 03:49, 5 July 2024 (UTC)
:File:Red question icon with gradient background.svg Not done: It's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes you think would improve the article in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate.
::Remove from the "Known for" list the following items that he is not particularly known for:
::*Grasshopper telegraphy (never developed to practical use, quite obscure outside of radio priority lore, the linked article does not describe it, and the principle is identical with etheric force which article does describe it.)
::*Phonograph doll (redundant as an application of the phonograph, described at its article as "a sales failure")
::*Edison screw (redundant as part of the light bulb)

:::File:Red information icon with gradient background.svg Not done: The Edison screw is certainly noteworthy and is a distinct invention from the Edison Bulb.McYeee (talk) 06:34, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
::::Reopening, as you did not indicate consideration of the other items. 2601:642:4600:D3B0:DD:ECBB:5E2E:A476 (talk) 14:59, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
:::::Reclosing, as edit requests which have been contested to any degree are ineligible for re-introduction into the queue (i.e being marked as answered=no
) as the queue is designed for edits which are non-controversial, neutral, and immediately actionable. Please seek consensus before re-opening. —Sirdog (talk) 22:39, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
Quadruplex sale
This article states that the quadruplex was sold to Western Union, however the quadruplex article states it was sold to Atlantic Pacific. The library of congress supports the Atlantic Pacific sale as factual. https://www.loc.gov/collections/edison-company-motion-pictures-and-sound-recordings/articles-and-essays/biography/life-of-thomas-alva-edison/ 2001:56A:F901:B900:4137:4D38:6138:7D0E (talk) 07:06, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
No more editing?
Has Wikipedia now recorded the full, final and definitive information about this subject, and is that why someone has determined that no more information or changes will be possible?
Fascinating. 86.167.21.201 (talk) 06:56, 13 April 2025 (UTC)
:The article would only really be considered 'complete' if it is listed as a Wikipedia:Featured article (it's far from that) and nobody can think of new improvements, and if sources do not provide new information about Edison in the future.
:What I think you're referring to is how the article is semi-protected. This protection is to prevent vandalism on the article from editors who are not logged in, but does not say that "no more information or changes will be possible". Editors may edit the page as long as they're logged in. ―Panamitsu (talk) 09:17, 13 April 2025 (UTC)
