Add Philanthropy section

Hello, I work for Tim Ferriss, and I would like to help update the article, specifically his philanthropic work. Some of the information is already included under Career (paragraph 7), but I think it would be clearer as its own section as follows:

Tim Ferriss works to advance psychedelic medicine for treatments in the mental health field. He became interested in the potential of psychedelics due to personal experiences with depression, as well as bipolar disorder, depression, and addiction in his family.{{Cite news|last=Carey|first=Benedict|title=Tim Ferriss, the Man Who Put His Money Behind Psychedelic Medicine|url=https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/06/health/ferriss-psychedelic-drugs-depression.html%7C|date=September 6, 2019|website=New York Times}}{{Cite news|last=Skipper|first=Clay|title=From Productivity to Psychedelics: Tim Ferriss Has Changed His Mind About Success|url= https://www.gq.com/story/tim-ferriss-interview-quarantine-psychedelics|date=July 22, 2020|website=GQ}}

In 2015, Ferriss met Dr. Roland Griffiths, who was leading research in psychedelics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Ferriss organized a crowdfunding campaign to support Dr. Griffiths’ research into depression.

In 2019, Ferriss contributed to Imperial College London’s Center for Psychedelic Research, the first research facility in the world dedicated to psychedelics.{{Cite news|last=Brodwin|first=Erin|title=Tim Ferriss just helped launch the world's first research center dedicated to turning psychedelics into medicines|url=https://www.businessinsider.com/tim-ferriss-first-psychedelic-research-center-launches-imperial-london-2019-4%7C|date=April 26, 2019|website=Business Insider}}

That year, Ferriss also donated more than $2 million to fund the Johns Hopkins Center for Psychedelic & Consciousness Research led by Dr. Griffiths, and he organized an additional $8 million in commitments.{{Cite news|last=O’Brien|first=Jeffrey|title=Business gets ready to trip: How psychedelic drugs may revolutionize mental health care|url=https://fortune.com/longform/psychedelic-drugs-business-mental-health/%7C|website=Fortune}}

In 2020, Ferriss donated $1 million to the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies for research into PTSD treatments using psychedelic-drug MDMA. He issued a $10 million challenge grant, and helped to raise a total of $30 million for the research by publicizing the challenge on his podcast.{{Cite news|last=Ramachandran|first=Shalini|title=Silicon Valley and Wall Street Elites Pour Money Into Psychedelic Research|url=https://www.wsj.com/articles/silicon-valley-and-wall-street-elites-pour-money-into-psychedelic-research-11597941470%7C|date=August 20, 2020|website=Wall Street Journal}}{{Cite news|title=2020’s Most Groundbreaking Developments in Psychedelics|url=https://www.lucid.news/2020s-most-groundbreaking-developments-in-psychedelics/|date=December 20, 2020|website=Lucid News}}

The duplicate information can be removed from the Career section. Thanks for your time! Coyoteadventures (talk) 17:14, 29 August 2024 (UTC)

: Okay, it looks pretty good, so I have added it. What "duplicate information" is there? -- Valjean (talk) (PING me) 19:03, 10 September 2024 (UTC)

::Thank you so much.

::As some of this information was in the Career section already it now appears as duplicate content. Specifically, the following two sentences (in paragraph 7 of the Career section) can now be removed from that part only:

::"Ferriss has raised funds for the Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and for the Centre for Psychedelic Research at Imperial College London. Since 2016, Ferriss donated at least $2,000,000 for clinical research into psychedelic drugs.[25][26]"

::Can you kindly remove? Coyoteadventures (talk) 19:59, 10 September 2024 (UTC)

::: I hope I got it right. I have to run now. -- Valjean (talk) (PING me) 21:12, 10 September 2024 (UTC)

Additional updates to the page

Hello, thanks again for all your help. I have a few more suggestions for the page, and I'd be grateful for assistance in implementing:

In the Early life section, please add:

  • At age 15, he spent a year in Japan as an exchange student.{{Cite web|title=Tim Ferriss: How travel helped me learn to kick ass|url= https://edition.cnn.com/travel/article/tim-ferriss-4-hour-workweek-japan-trip/index.html|date=5 November 2015|website=CNN}}{{Cite web|last=Feloni|first=Richard|title=How Tim Ferriss Beat Depression and Became an Inspirational Icon|url=https://www.inc.com/business-insider/tim-ferris-life-40-hour-work-week.html|date=28 November 2017|website=Inc.}}
  • He was a member of the wrestling team in high school.{{Cite web|last=Mead|first=Rebecca|title=Better, Faster, Stronger|url=https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2011/09/05/better-faster-stronger|date=29 August 2011|website=The New Yorker}}

Please create a Personal life section with the following information:

  • Ferriss won a National Chinese Kickboxing Championship.
  • He holds the Guinness World Records for tango spins.{{Cite web|last=Rosenbloom|first=Stephanie|title=The World According to Tim Ferriss|url=https://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/27/fashion/27Ferris.html|date=25 March 2011|website=The New York Times}}

Lastly, please update the lead to reflect Tim's giving. The last sentence of the lead should say:

  • He is known for his 4-Hour self-help book series—including The 4-Hour Work Week, The 4-Hour Body, and The 4-Hour Chef —that focused on lifestyle optimizations, and for his support of scientific research into psychedelic treatments.
