Update

The city itself is entirely occupied now: https://www.understandingwar.org/backgrounder/russian-offensive-campaign-assessment-june-10-2025 (see map). 94.246.147.217 (talk) 17:36, 11 June 2025 (UTC)

My edits have been reverted: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Toretsk&diff=prev&oldid=1295100193

They should be restored. 94.246.147.217 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 18:25, 11 June 2025 (UTC)

Formal edit request

Someone please revert this revert: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Toretsk&diff=1295100193&oldid=1295099899 The reverter refused to revert himself.

Btw https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Edit_requests is circular and doesn't tell how to make a request. 94.246.147.217 (talk) 12:06, 15 June 2025 (UTC)

Formally formal request

{{Edit extended protected|answered=yes}}

  • Reverting the revert (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Toretsk&diff=1295100193&oldid=1295099899) made for no real reason and not reviewed and reverted despite being asked to do it.
  • Improvements and updates to article (with sources)
  • References in the edit (reverted)

Talk to me on my talk page if you have any actual, specific problems with anything (revert everything else meanwhile)

:I added the request template; the user cannot edit the article themselves due to CTOP restrictions. 331dot (talk) 13:21, 15 June 2025 (UTC)

:As already explained on your talk page:

50pxThis is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

:You have shown interest in the Russo-Ukrainian War. Due to past disruption in this topic area, the community has authorised uninvolved administrators to impose contentious topics restrictions—such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks—on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, expected standards of behaviour, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

:For additional information, please see the guidance on these sanctions. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

:If that is not clear, talk to the editor who left that message there. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 13:22, 15 June 2025 (UTC)

:{{Respond|xmark|Not done:}} As explained, you are not allowed to edit the article due to WP:RUSUKR. You are free to propose edits here on the talk page using the {{tlx|edit extended protected}} template. [[User:CanonNi]] (talkcontribs) 13:55, 15 June 2025 (UTC)

Thanks 331dot.

Andy Mabbett: I did (not just here), but I was entirely ignored with zero response.

I'll repost it here:

If you want a reference for the "destroyed" or "ruined" state (completely ruined) in addition to now uninhabited (perhaps something like "virtually uninhabited" it would be more proper than "about zero" I put in the infobox), for example https://newsukraine.rbc.ua/news/before-and-after-what-destroyed-toretsk-in-1747241778.html specifically (among many others). The number of 48 residents was from May, now it's less and possibly none. Previously https://english.nv.ua/russian-war/gruesome-drone-video-of-the-ruined-ukrainian-city-of-toretsk-in-donetsk-oblast-50479615.html (with a video, from January) and many more. Sample foreign reporting from already near 1 year ago: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/27/world/europe/ukraine-russia-donetsk-bomb.html If you want to discuss/tell/ask me anything do it on my talk page. I'm also very much for any further editing after my edits would be restored, it will still need expansion and updating (I even did tag the article for the need of being updated, despite having updated it myself).

Also the Reuters source that I already used https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/russia-says-it-has-taken-control-city-toretsk-eastern-ukraine-2025-02-07/ calls the depopulation and destruction as follows: "Most of Toretsk's civilian population has long since fled or been evacuated and many of the city's buildings are pulverised or badly damaged." It was in February and it's been only much worse since then. In fact it's been described as a "ruined city" and "destroyed city" (where "The only signs of life were the soldiers") already almost 1 year ago: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/06/world/europe/ukraine-war-donetsk-toretsk.html

:So I reviewed the edit here and much of the stuff they wrote is something we can work with. While technically they may have needed to establish consensus before making this edit request, not all but much of what they wrote is a definite improvement, and I won't be anal about these requirements. I will ping participants once I'm done to notify about my changes. {{Doing}} Szmenderowiecki (talk) 18:08, 20 June 2025 (UTC)

:{{Partly done}} Most of the stuff is sourced. I have reformulated some of it, and also got rid of a {{citation needed}} tag. Dear IP, please have a bit more courtesy to other editors, OK? Szmenderowiecki (talk) 12:06, 21 June 2025 (UTC)

It's better for multiple reasons than some church.

Toretsk commons are also not linked at all: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Toretsk

"City entrance in 2008 when it was called Dzerzhynsk" photo could be in modern history. (There are also his monuments that could illustrate the Soviet era l.)

"Crying Mother" monument could illustrate WWII.

The rest of Gallery is random and may be all deleted. 94.246.147.217 (talk) 09:33, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
