They are used in a lot of things—they deserve a Wikipedia article!
It's been really difficult to find any good sources to cite though, except of places that sell them. I have not been able to find anything on their history (who created them, when they were created, etc.). They do exist, though, and they’re very useful and used in a variety of items, from bra straps to harnesses to fanny packs to life jackets. SaltySemanticSchmuck (talk) 05:57, 9 May 2019 (UTC)
