Untrue statement
The statement: "... and was implied to be at least somewhat inebriated throughout the series (he hiccups during the theme song, for example)" Here is the opening theme song: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9naJtTMnBgE Uncle Croc's Block Intro 1975]. There is no hiccuping; the inhaling after each sung line is how Nelson Reilly sang. There are no online sources to back the claim that Uncle Croc was inebriated except for this blog: [https://travsd.wordpress.com/2018/01/13/charles-nelson-reilly-is-uncle-croc/ Charles Nelson Reily IS Uncle Croc]; but that is personal opinion.
