Spelling error in the 'Iconography Section': should be 'abode' and not 'adobe' - see "His adobe is described as Vaikuntha and his mount (vahana) is the bird king Garuda.[32]" Sheemiee (talk) 10:30, 15 October 2024 (UTC)

Remove the names Lakshmikanta and Jagannatha from the notable names list for the Shri Vishnu Sahasranama in the Nomenclature section. They are not part of the Sahasranama. If so desired, these popular names are in the Sahasranama and can be added as replacements: Vasudeva, Aniruddha, Purandara, Achyuta, Rama, Krshna, Ashoka, Hiranyagarbha. I repeat, Remove Lakshmikanta and Jagannatha from the list of notable names in the Vishnu Sahasranama, because they are not in the Sahasranama. For evidence, consult Source 21 of the page. Also see the following sources if any doubt persists:

Vishnu doesn’t have siblings remove it.

It is inaccurate to describe Durga as the sister of Vishnu or even to equate her with Yogamaya in that role. In the Bhagavata Purana 10.2, it is Yogamaya—a divine spiritual energy—who is referred to as the sister of KRISHNA, and there is a very well established separate page for Krishna. She appears as the infant girl swapped for Krishna at birth, and when Kamsa tries to kill her, she escapes and declares that Krishna has already been born. This episode refers specifically to Krishna’s incarnation and does not apply broadly to Vishnu across all avatars. Furthermore, while some Vaishnava traditions symbolically associate Yogamaya with Durga, this is a sectarian interpretation, not a scriptural identity. Durga, in core texts like the Devi Mahatmya, is depicted as a supreme warrior goddess, not as a sibling of Vishnu. Therefore, labeling Durga as “Yogamaya, the ceremonial sister of Vishnu” on a general page about Vishnu is misleading. Blurring distinct theological identities and presenting a localized interpretation as universal fact. Vishnu on the other hand has no “ceremonial sister” as such neither is Parvati ever described as his sister in his main texts let alone Durga—even if Durga is considered Yogmaya, she’s related to the episode of Krishna’s birth for that specific avatar!. 2601:205:4A81:F260:93:212D:51F9:2C90 (talk) 15:50, 28 June 2025 (UTC)

“Sister Durga”

Durga is affiliated with Lakshmi in Vaishnavism, which is the primary tradition centered on Vishnu. In many Vaishnava texts, Durga is considered a form or aspect of Lakshmi. Therefore, labeling her as Vishnu’s sister is inconsistent with the theological framework of Vaishnavism, especially since no major Vishnu-related scripture describes her as his sister, it should not be placed in the info box, rather in the body of the article. As it is a Vishnu-centric page. Additionally, Yogamaya is considered Krishna’s ceremonial sister in some texts. While some later traditions equate Yogamaya with Durga, this identification is not supported by any major scriptural canon and appears to be a popular or syncretic belief rather than a scriptural fact, possibly found in much later sectarian texts. :Have brought up this. Some obsession with adding Durga as his sibling. 2601:205:4A81:F260:41D:F674:A8FC:8447 (talk) 15:38, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
