|url = https://www.forbes.com/sites/mattnovak/2023/05/03/wikipedia-editor-says-they-were-paid-to-change-vivek-ramaswamys-page/

|quote = Vivek Ramaswamy, an entrepreneur vying to be the Republican candidate for president in 2024, allegedly paid to change the Wikipedia page about him, according to a disclosure made on the community encyclopedia. The changes include scrubbing the fact that Ramaswamy received the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans in 2011 and Ramaswamy’s role in the Ohio Covid-19 Response Team... Ramaswamy’s Wikipedia page is currently flagged as being in dispute for not having a neutral point of view. It’s unclear if the paid contributions are what got Ramaswamy’s page flagged. Wikipedia editors have started to debate whether Ramaswamy’s page should be placed into a protective status in order to minimize alterations made.

Conservatism label

{{Edit extended-protected|Vivek Ramaswamy|answered=yes}}

Please change the lack of a conservatism label to add a conservatism label in the Political positions section. This is the revision that needs to be reverted https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Vivek_Ramaswamy&diff=prev&oldid=1264723518

Ramaswamy is a conservative, as stated by the WP:RS used in the article itself. WP:RS calls him a conservative in their own voice.

The edit can be considered a case of WP:VANDALISM, specifically WP:NOBLANK. TurboSuperA+ (talk) 12:16, 31 December 2024 (UTC)

:The edit in question removed a navigation sidebar and contained a reasonable edit summary. So hell no, this isn't "blanking". The question is: does V.R.'s biographical article benefit from a {{tl|Conservatism US}} sidebar. Merely subscribing to conservative views probably doesn't do it, I fail to see a compelling argument for this. -- M.boli (talk) 17:49, 31 December 2024 (UTC)

::I think that he has been described as a conservative. My question is: is it worth including a sidebar that he isn't mentioned in? I also want to hear what @Therequiembellishere has to say since they were the one to remove it. Ultraodan (talk) 10:40, 1 January 2025 (UTC)

::He was a conservative presidential candidate, so he is a conservative political figure. TurboSuperA+ (talk) 16:11, 1 January 2025 (UTC)

:::I'm not sure that running for president inherently qualifies an individual to benefit from the Template:Conservatism US sidebar. There were 17 candidates in 2016, it wouldn't make sense to include all of them (plus candidates from other elections). - Epluribusunumyall (talk) 04:24, 6 January 2025 (UTC)

::::Then the inclusion on the template seems arbitrary, as Tucker Carlson who is a former TV host and podcaster is on it, while Ramaswamy, who is on Trump's new cabinet isn't. Sarah Palin is on the list, despite her political career consisting of being VP pick to a losing presidential candidate.

::::{{tq|"President-elect Donald Trump has selected Vivek Ramaswamy, a former presidential candidate and Ohio native, to help lead a new initiative aimed at slashing government spending. Ramaswamy will oversee the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE"}}https://eu.cincinnati.com/story/news/politics/2024/11/13/who-is-vivek-ramaswamy-cincinnati-billionaire-trump-cabinet/76256768007/

::::Is there a guideline on who should be included on the list? TurboSuperA+ (talk) 09:37, 6 January 2025 (UTC)

::In addition to being a political figure as well as a former US presidential candidate, the article mentions people who are in the sidebar. The sidebar provides useful context. TurboSuperA+ (talk) 07:11, 5 January 2025 (UTC)

National Libertarianism

Vivek has been conversing on this ideology and I am seeing a few sources https://www.thefai.org/posts/a-good-word-for-national-libertarianism https://reason.com/2024/07/12/vivek-ramaswamy-debuts-national-libertarianism-at-natcon-4/. Is it notable for inclusion?

Portrait

Why are we using such a low quality image of Ramaswamy? I was checking the edit history and we had such better images of him that were pretty decent. What is the point of replacing the man's face with one that is more recent, even though they basically look the same??? AsaQuathern (talk) 07:03, 25 February 2025 (UTC)

Edit request about the Soros fellowship + Ohio COVID response team

Currently the citations for the Soros fellowship (Early life and education>Education) and service on the Ohio COVID response team (Business career>Other ventures) link to articles that describe their removal from Wikipedia, not actual sources for the claims. For the Ohio claim, [https://www.foxnews.com/transcript/swedish-ambassador-to-the-us-on-her-countrys-path-to-herd-immunity-against-the-coronavirus this] would be a better source as it was the original source used before its removal by @Jhofferman. For the Soros fellowship, [https://pdsoros.org/fellows/vivek-ramaswamy/ this] source is more direct. 📻NuclearSpuds🎙️ 00:01, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

:* Regarding receiving the Soros fellowship: I agree that the Soros Fellowship web page was a much better citation for this fact. So I've done that. (The citation was even already present in this page.)

:* Regarding appointment to Ohio COVID task force: I agree a more direct ciation would be good. The existing reference is an article about VR scrubbing the Wikipedia page. However the suggested source – Tucker Carlson introducing a guest – would not be a reliable source for anything factual. I haven't found a better reference with a quick search so I haven't changed anything.

:-- M.boli (talk) 03:15, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

::Thanks for the reply. I saw that too-- I wasn't sure how it matched up to standards for reliability. However, with a thorough search, Tucker Carlson's introduction was the only mention that I could find describing the task force. Most other sources only described it in reference to the Wikipedia article, and when I removed these sources from my search, I only found [https://www.bio.org/gooddaybio-archive/biotech-innovator-trying-treat-covid-19-cytokine-storms one] other reference to the task force, in a written description of Ramaswamy for a podcast interview. However, I have doubts about the reliability of this source because the task force was never actually discussed in the interview and I suspect that the info in the description was pulled from the Wikipedia article, since at that time it included a description of the task force. So that might be a reason to just take out the claim altogether. 📻NuclearSpuds🎙️ 04:09, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

::Hello @M.boli, I am revisiting this page and I saw that the claim about the COVID task force still remains. I want to clarify that the cited article does not make this claim, and I think the verifiability of this claim is important seeing that it is a subject of contention. As I do not yet have the necessary permission to edit this article, I encourage you or another editor to either remove the claim or remove the source and place a 'citation needed' tag. Thanks. 📻NuclearSpuds🎙️ 05:15, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

Extended-confirmed-protected edit request on 24 April 2025

{{edit extended-protected|Vivek Ramaswamy|answered=yes}}

His wife is an ENT doctor which makes much more sense than "laryngologist and surgeon". Shes an ENT, which is a specialty that both practices medicine and does surgery. Much more succinct and correct, from a medical standpoint 2600:1700:19E0:2030:19F:191E:DD8D:7A30 (talk) 08:44, 24 April 2025 (UTC)

:Hi you! The sentence is sourced; the first source says "doctor", and I cannot access the second source, which says: "a surgeon and cancer researcher". I searched for sources myself, and found this: https://cancer.osu.edu/find-a-doctor/search-physician-directory/apoorva-t-ramaswamy in which she presents herself as a laryngologist. So I will not change the text. Friendly, Lova Falk (talk) 13:40, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
