It has been postulated that the event was caused by El Niño, which has been known to have global effects—causing a change to the path of the jet stream and affecting the North Atlantic oscillation, reducing warm airflow into Europe.[http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/weather/article6982249.ece Life in the deep freeze] Times Online, 10 January 2010 In the media, these events have been associated with global climate change; diverse opinions have been expressed as to whether this is an example of dramatic climate change, evidence against it{{cite web|url=http://www.skepticsglobalwarming.com/?p=2631 |title=Massive Snowstorm Slams Europe |publisher=Skeptics Global Warming |date=26 November 2008|accessdate=15 April 2010}} or unrelated.

The issue is that this is not just speculation but that it is not really from reliable sources - whether a page that redirects to www.barking-moonbat.com is ever going t be reliable is subjective. The Times is often a reliable source (for news) for scientific meteorological analysis maybe not.

If reliable (ie scientific meteorological) opinions exists then they could be used.Oranjblud (talk) 21:39, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
