flags

Hi -- I'm going to delete the flags which look messy and cluttered right now. ([http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wolf_Prize_in_Chemistry&diff=166374615&oldid=166251444 added today] by IP user 200.100.180.77; [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wolf_Prize_in_Chemistry&oldid=166251444 prior version]; the [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wolf_Prize_in_Chemistry&diff=166432746&oldid=166374615 version I created] by deleting flags but retaining link changes. (See WP:FLAG for some style guides on flags. Basically, while flags are very common for sports-related articles, because media etc. regularly uses flags to identify teams and players, flags do not have that kind of common usage in other areas of life (like scientists). They are particularly inappropriate in inline uses where they do not line up, and the eye bounces back and forth trying to see them. I would suggest that if editor(s) feel the national information is necessary then let's consider text; otherwise maybe some sort of table format would look better. See for example Jury Prize (Cannes Film Festival). As it is, the older format looked much, much neater. (The fixes to name links were very helpful.) --lquilter 02:36, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
