Superman feeling like a has been?

Can we get a citation on this? I'm no where near even a wannabe expert on Superman... but it just seems to me that one of the many things Superman is impervious to would be self pity. Marvel's Copyright

Any information on how DC was able to get around Marvel's copyright on the "Wonder Man" name?
