Tanytarsus is a large genus of non-biting midges of the tribe Tanytarsini and subfamily Chironominae of the bloodworm family (Chironomidae). In older literature the name Tanytarsus was used for some members of tribe Chironomini related to the genus Phaenopsectra.{{cite journal | author=Townes, H.
