The Task Force on Process Mining has a Steering Committee{{Cite web|title=Steering Committee - IEEE Task Force on Process Mining|url=https://www.tf-pm.org/subscription/steering-committee|access-date=2021-01-10|website=www.tf-pm.org}} and an Advisory Board.{{Cite web|title=Advisory Board - IEEE Task Force on Process Mining|url=https://www.tf-pm.org/subscription/advisory-board|access-date=2021-01-10|website=www.tf-pm.org}} The Steering Committee, was chaired by Wil van der Aalst in its inception in 2009, defined 15 action lines. These include the organization of the annual International Process Mining Conference (ICPM) series,{{cite web |access-date=10 January 2021 |title= International Process Mining Conference (ICPM) series |work = Home page of the ICPM conference series |publisher= IEEE Task Force on Process Mining |url=https://icpmconference.org}} standardization efforts leading to the IEEE XES standard for storing and exchanging event data{{refn|{{cite book |url=https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/7740858 |publisher=IEEE |doi=10.1109/IEEESTD.2016.7740858 |isbn=978-1-5044-2421-9 |access-date=10 January 2021 |title=IEEE Standard for eXtensible Event Stream (XES) for Achieving Interoperability in Event Logs and Event Streams }}}}{{refn|{{cite web |url=http://xes-standard.org/ |title=eXtensible Event Stream (XES) |author= |date= 11 November 2016|website= eXtensible Event Stream (XES) |publisher=IEEE Task Force on Process Mining|access-date=10 January 2021}}}}, and the Process Mining Manifesto{{refn|{{cite web |url=https://www.tf-pm.org/resources/manifesto |title=Process Mining Manifesto |author= |date= 2011|website=Process Mining Manifesto|publisher=IEEE Task Force on Process Mining|access-date=10 January 2021}}}}{{Cite web |title=Process Mining Manifesto |url=https://www.win.tue.nl/ieeetfpm/downloads/Process%20Mining%20Manifesto.pdf}} which was translated into 16 languages. The Task Force on Process Mining also publishes a newsletter, provides data sets, organizes workshops and competitions, and connects researchers and practitioners.
In 2016, the IEEE Standards Association published the IEEE Standard for Extensible Event Stream (XES), which is a widely accepted file format by the process mining community.{{Cite book |last=Kingsley |first=Okoye |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=72V2EAAAQBAJ&dq=%22task+force+on+process+mining%22&pg=PA4 |title=Applications and Developments in Semantic Process Mining |date=2020-04-10 |publisher=IGI Global |isbn=978-1-7998-2670-5 |language=en}}
As of 2023, Boudewijn van Dongen serves as chair of the Steering Committee.
