Teknaf

History

In October 2017, seven Detective Branch officers kidnapped the brother of Teknaf mayor Moniruzzaman and demanded a ransom for his freedom.{{Cite web |title=7 suspended DB members jailed for 7 years |url=https://www.banglainsider.com/en/news_details/124661 |access-date=2024-06-16 |website=Bangla Insider |language=en-US}} After being released, the victim's family filed a complaint with the Bangladesh Army check post which detained the officers with the ransom money.
