The Tellnes mine is one of the largest titanium mines in Europe. The mine is located about {{convert|4|km}} northeast of the Jøssingfjorden in Sokndal municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The mine has reserves amounting more than {{convert|300,000,000|t|lk=on}} of ore grading 18% titanium.{{cite web|url=https://www.academia.edu/3045447|title=Overview of titanium mining in Norway|year=2012|publisher=academia.edu|accessdate=2013-07-05|last1=Korneliussen|first1=Are|last2=McEnroe|first2=Suzanne| last3=Nilsson|first3=Lars Petter|last4=Schiellerup|first4=Henrik|last5=Gautneb|first5=Håvard| last6=Meyer|first6=Gurli|last7=Størseth|first7=Leif Roger}} The deposit of titanium was discovered in 1954 and production at the mine began in October 1960. Each year there is about {{convert|2,000,000|t}} of ore and {{convert|1,600,000|t}} of rock waste removed from the open-pit mine. This resulted in about {{convert|580,000|t}} of ilmenite concentrate from the mine in 1999.{{cite web|url=http://www.mindat.org/loc-18742.html|title=Tellnes Mines, Sokndal, Rogaland, Norway|publisher=Mindat.org|accessdate=2016-07-08}}
