Template talk:IMDb episodes

If the ID is missing from the template it should be populated from Wikidata similar to how {{tlx|IMDb title}} does the same thing. See Template:IMDb title#Wikidata for more information. Does anyone know how to change the template to incorporate this feature?{{parabr}}Apparently this was discussed back in 2013 here. For a page like Community (season 3), I think it would be useful for the IMDB episodes link to point at the specific season that the wiki page is about. Kinda like Template:TV.com episodes does/allows.

Could that be done? Has it been considered/discussed?

Hm... looking at the sourcecode for the template, looks like it's been mostly done, but not as fully as the TV.com one, and not documented apparently. adding "season=SEASON" changes the destination URL generated, but it doesn't change the link text.

It would be great if this template were as smart as {{tlx|IMDb title}}, which can find the IMDb ID number at Wikidata if it exists there. (Not sure I'm up for trying to implement this myself.) - dcljr (talk) 12:13, 3 October 2022 (UTC)

It generates a link to an episode list but doesn't make that clear in the generated text. Shouldn't it say "SeriesName episode list at IMDb" rather than the more generic "SeriesName at IMDb"? It is the episode list specifically that we are linking to, not the main IMDb page for the series. --Jameboy (talk) 11:39, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
