this website recently restructured their website, and all of the URLs are now redirects. unfortunately, the new old IDs and new IDs are not the same, so we cannot simply change the URL. so, the solution is to introduce a new parameter, {{{para|pid}}} which is the new player ID (for example, Carlos Valderrama would change from old {{para|id|14283}} and new {{para|pid|13683}}). the uses of the old parameter can be migrated (probably by bot) to use the new parameter. after some time without any uses of the old parameters, we can remove the code for the old parameters.

due to the fact that this template does not support the new player IDs, there are now several new uses without this template (see [//en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ALinkSearch&target=www.national-football-teams.com%2Fplayer%2F this search]). the majority still use the old scheme (see [//en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ALinkSearch&target=www.national-football-teams.com%2Fv2%2Fplayer.php this search]), but there is no way of guessing the old IDs for new articles/uses. once this is updated, I will make a bot request to convert to the new player IDs. The purpose of this edit is to provide increased privacy and security for users by having the template generate HTTPS links for the NFT site. The NFT site appears to support HTTPS; see https://www.national-football-teams.com/player/2456.html for example. In the template, please change each of the two instances of http://www.national-football-teams.com/ to https://www.national-football-teams.com/ instead. I believe the parameters {{para|work|National Football Teams}} and {{para|publisher|Benjamin Strack-Zimmermann}} should be added to the citation version. The English language player profiles on NFT seem to no longer exist. Maybe it's just temporary but maybe not. The template might have to be changed to link to the German language version instead. Stuart1234 (talk) 15:03, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
