{{main|Alveolar click}}
The voiceless or more precisely tenuis (post)alveolar click is a click consonant found primarily among the languages of southern Africa.
The symbol in the International Phonetic Alphabet for a tenuis alveolar click with a velar rear articulation is {{angbr IPA|k͡ǃ}} or {{angbr IPA|k͜ǃ}}, commonly abbreviated to {{angbr IPA|kǃ}}, {{angbr IPA|ᵏǃ}} or simply {{angbr IPA|ǃ}}; a symbol abandoned by the IPA but still preferred by some linguists is {{angbr IPA|k͡ʗ}} or {{angbr IPA|k͜ʗ}}, abbreviated {{angbr IPA|kʗ}}, {{angbr IPA|ᵏʗ}} or just {{angbr IPA|ʗ}}. For a click with a uvular rear articulation, the equivalents are {{angbr IPA|q͡ǃ, q͜ǃ, qǃ, 𐞥ǃ}} and {{angbr IPA|q͡ʗ, q͜ʗ, qʗ, 𐞥ʗ}}.
Sometimes the accompanying letter comes after the click letter, e.g. {{angbr IPA|ǃk}} or {{angbr IPA|ǃᵏ}}; this may be a simple orthographic choice, or it may imply a difference in the relative timing of the releases.{{Cite book |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=WD8aAQAAIAAJ |title=Afrika und Übersee |date=2005 |publisher=D.
