One of Terfens' major landmarks is the Maria Larch pilgrimage church. The church was founded in 1678 in the former location of a statue of the Virgin Mary attached to a larch tree.{{cite web|title=Maria Larch pilgrimage church in Terfens|url=http://www.silberregion-karwendel.com/en/sehenswuerdigkeiten/kirchen-kloester/_s_maria-larch-pilgrimage-church-in-terfens_67|website=Silberregion Karwendel|accessdate=12 August 2016}} The statue originates in 1665; it was put there because a farmer's wife prayed to the larch tree and when she told the story to a hermit called Johann Weiss, he created the clay statue.{{cite web|title=Maria Larch Pilgrimage Church|url=http://www.hall-wattens.at/en/maria-larch-pilgrimage-church.html|website=Region Hall-Wattens|accessdate=12 August 2016}} The church was renovated in 1994.
