Reception

Malini Mannath of Chennai Online wrote "Finally, don't go by the title or it's heroine. For, it's a fairly serious and realistic film, socially relevant, at times heart-rending too. Though for hard-core Mumtaz fans who'd expect to see 'more' of her here, it may be a slight disappointment!".{{cite web |last=Mannath |first=Malini |date=25 December 2003 |title=Thathi Thaavuthu Manasu |url=http://www.chennaionline.com/Moviereviews/tammov318.asp |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20050408211812/http://www.chennaionline.com/Moviereviews/tammov318.asp |archive-date=8 April 2005 |access-date=15 May 2022 |website=Chennai Online}}
