The Don Juans ({{langx|cs|Donšajni}}, also known as Skirt Chasers) is a 2013 Czech comedy film directed by Jiří Menzel. The film was selected as the Czech entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards,{{cite web |url=http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/10/07/a-few-controversies-amid-a-record-number-of-foreign-language-oscar-entries/?_r=0 |title= A Few Controversies Amid a Record Number of Foreign-Language Oscar Entries |accessdate=8 September 2013 |work=New York Times}} but it was not nominated. Originally Agnieszka Holland's mini-series Burning Bush had been selected to represent the Czech Republic.{{cite web |url=http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/oscars-czechs-choose-hbos-burning-634736 |title= Oscars: Czechs Choose HBO's 'Burning Bush' for Foreign Language Category |accessdate=24 September 2013 |work=Hollywood Reporter|date= 23 September 2013 }}{{cite web |url=http://www.screendaily.com/news/czechs-enter-burning-bush-to-oscars/5060756.article?blocktitle=HEADLINES&contentID=40295 |title=Czechs enter Burning Bush to Oscars |accessdate=24 September 2013 |work=Screen Daily}} However AMPAS disqualified the film, citing regulations that the film must not have initially appeared on television. The mini-series aired on Czech TV eight months prior to the re-edited version that appeared in cinemas.{{cite web|url=http://www.filmneweurope.com/news/czech/106495-academy-disqualifies-burning-bush/menu-id-150|title=Academy Disqualifies Burning Bush|accessdate=8 October 2013|work=Film New Europe|url-status=dead|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20131013075128/http://www.filmneweurope.com/news/czech/106495-academy-disqualifies-burning-bush/menu-id-150|archivedate=13 October 2013}} The Don Juans was a controversial pick as members of the Czech Film Academy did not see the film before it was chosen and because the film was poorly received by Czech critics.{{cite web|title=Hořící keř neprošel přes právníky, Oscara si nárokuje nepovedený "Menzel"|url=http://www.reflex.cz/clanek/kultura/52055/horici-ker-neprosel-pres-pravniky-oscara-si-narokuje-nepovedeny-menzel.html|website=Reflex.cz|accessdate=19 December 2016}}{{cite web|title=Překvapení se nekoná: Donšajni o Oscara bojovat nebudou|url=http://www.kinobox.cz/clanek/8538-prekvapeni-se-nekona-donsajni-o-oscara-bojovat-nebudou|website=Kinobox.cz|accessdate=19 December 2016}}
