The Monument is a mining town in the locality of Dajarra in the Shire of Cloncurry, Queensland, Australia.{{cite QPN|39705|The Monument|town in Shire of Cloncurry|accessdate=27 December 2020}} It is nicknamed Phosphate Hill.

History

The town was named by the Queensland Place Names Board on 1 October 1975. The name refers to a nearby mountain, also called The Monument ({{Coord|-21.7580|139.9159|type:mountain_region:AU-QLD|display=|name=The Monument (mountain)}}), which has a rock pillar standing on the top of it.{{Cite QPN|34028|The Monument|mountain in the Shire of Cloncurry|access-date=27 January 2021}}

The Monument State School opened on 15 March 1976 and then closed in December 1978. Economy
